167.5 Acres
The land is around 168 acres stretching back from the beach, North Coast Kenya, towards the road. There are enormous baobabs probably half a century old, mighty tamarinds, coral caves with freshwater flows that hold the Dusky Sleeper fish, tunnels that go down to the shoreline – bats, tree and rock hyrax, a troop of well-behaved yellow baboons, red-tailed monkeys, sykes and some vervets. The fireball lilies bloom yearly, the Amorphophallus maximus - the phantom lily of East Africa that is said to bloom once every 6-7 years - is found here in abundance. There are honey badgers, porcupines, pouch rats, and a whole variety of snakes.
It is, in fact, intact coral rag forest, the likes of which have been felled along almost the entirety of the Kenyan coast – there is nothing left like this… it's so intact that even the Indian House Crows stay away! There are nesting fish eagles, palmnut vultures and now and then an osprey stops by.
There is room for green development – ocean view or set back in the wild bush. No noise pollution, fresh water wells. This is true, wholesome ecosystem – forest to water and it deserves a chance to remain …
